My Disney Story

Wednesday, 18 May 2016

I've recently noticed how little Disney blog posts I do, seeming to spend all my time on making [awesome *cough cough*] Disney videos, I have some how left the blog a little bare of Disney love.

I do love making Disney videos, and that certainly isn't going to stop any time soon, however I do want to spread that love a little more and bring Disney back onto Stephanie Dreams. After all, it is a huge part of my life ♥

And so, to start with "My Disney Story", really a love story if I'm honest!
As children, my parents took us to Walt Disney World 3 times [in 1998, 1999 and 2001] of which we loved and had lots of fun, but truly didn't appreciate how much of a big deal it was until I went back in 2006. That was the time I fell in love with Disney, with Disney World and what made me appreciate how special and magical it is.

As kids I remember being around Disney, but it was never a big deal. Winnie the Pooh was my fav, and we certainly watched the majority of films, but it was actually visiting the parks that changed it all for me.

History of my trips to Walt Disney World:
1998, 1999 and 2001 as a family
2006 with my parents and a friend
2009 and 2012 with Sam
2014 our Wedding-moon
It was on our 2009 trip that I got to see the Wedding Pavilion and opened my eyes to Disney Weddings [oh em gee] it was also the time that I found The Dibb and planning Disney holidays become something exciting and fun. Counting down to our holidays became such fun, so important to plan it well and something that became so obsessive. It ended in a dream holiday, to the Mouse, each time.

When Sam didn't propose to me on our 2012 trip [I always said I'd love a proposal there or have our Wedding there] it made me look even more into Disney Weddings. Following a couple, Russell and Michelle, and their beautiful wedding at the Swan and Dolphin got me far too excited and some how our dream became totally doable...we could actually get married in our magical place, in our special place.
After our 2009 trip together, I think Sam fell head of heels for Disney, just as I'd hoped. We're a Disney couple through and through and I am so glad it's not just me that makes him. He truly feels the love and happiness like I do.
Of course the Disney blues kicked it after most trips, and we tried to fill them with Disneyland Paris mini trips. One in 2010 and one in 2012, before going again last year for our First Year Wedding Anniversary.

I don't think DLP could ever be WDW, it's not and it never will be. However I've learnt to take it for what it is, and it certainly is a gorgeous park [that castle though!!] and it's a park I feel rather at home in, rather content in. Our next planned Disney trip is to Disneyland Paris with two of our friends that came to Orlando with us, I can't wait for them to experience another Disney park and have the best few days there.
Disney is much more than a holiday, than a trip....it's our life and love. It's something that we dream about, that we have so many happy memories in. It's something that truly fills our heart with happiness, and happiness is too precious to give away ♥

Thank you Mr Walt Disney, for making something so wonderful. For inspiring so many people and for making so many peoples dreams come true.

  1. I haven't ever been to Disney, Simon has been 3 times and loved it but it was when he was younger before we met, he has always wanted to take our girls but they haven't ever wanted to go, it's such a shame, I think they would like it if they went but now the medical insurance is ridiculous for me so I can't see it happening, it would be nice to go and see it all, it looks magical xxx
